Question Number: 15380Law 10 - Method of Scoring 5/4/2007RE: rec Adult alex of richmond hill, on canada asks...In a recent discussion among referees, it was mentioned that a goal cannot be scored by a goal keeper releasing the ball from his hand. The underlining principle is a goal can be score with the foot, head, etc but NOT with hands.
I went over Law 10 again and cannot find anything that support this view. Now I tend to believe that the goal stand if a keeper throws the ball with his hands into the opponent goal (highly unlikely), or into his own goal.
Are there publications or decisions that can validate this issue? Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Ask your esteemed colleague if he can find anything that says players are allowed to head the ball. Then ask him why he thinks that is legal.
Seriously, you cannot find anything that says the keeper can't score by throwing, because no such prohibition exists. The only throw that doesn't count as a goal is from a throw-in. Anything that is not prohibited by the Laws is allowed.

Keep fighting off stupidity, maybe one of us will cause it to end...
