Question Number: 14990Law 8 - Start and Restart of Play 3/16/2007RE: Competive Under 17 Nick of Arvada, CO Jefferson asks...What is the correct re-start for when I award a indirect free kick and it was caused inside the six yard box? Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer Sorry, but I'd have to look in Law 8 and read the Special Circumstances listed there...

View Referee Chuck Fleischer profileAnswer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Well an indfk is a restart!
The LOCATION of any attacking indfk restart in the opposing goal area is NEVER closer than 6 yards from the actual goal line. The ball is pulled straight back from the actual location of the foul or infringment to the edge of the 6 yard area outer boundry as per law 8 special circumstances.
ANY defending free kick including dfk as well as indfk can be taken anywhere the defenders wish inside their own goal area.
Cheers
