Question Number: 14858Law 8 - Start and Restart of Play 2/17/2007RE: Recreation Under 9 Brian of Gulfport, U.S.A asks...A player kicks the kick-off into the goal without anyone else touching the ball in a U-8 game. Does it count? Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson Hi Brian , provided the league has not stated all dfks or free kicks are to be INDFK as some mini leagues seem to belive is a good idea then it is a good goal. The law was changed long ago you can score directly off a kick off. Better sign that player to an NFL pointy ball contract takes a good boot to get it that far and score!
Kick-off A kick-off is a way of starting or restarting play: at the start of the match;
after a goal has been scored;
at the start of the second half of the match;
at the start of each period of extra time, where applicable.
A goal may be scored directly from the kick-off. Cheers
