Sir,

I watch games on tv and i notice a lot after the player has comitted a minor foul, kicked the ball out of bounds, or is just next to the ball the stick their hand in the air and look at the referee. Is there a reason for that?

They are appealing for the referee to rule in their favour. It would be better if the end result was to dry their underarm deodorant because that is more likely to happen.

They also are taught by their coaches to grab every ball that goes into touch and take a throw before the referee awards it. This does nothing but earn them the immediate displeasure of the referee and after being told to desisit with such behavior, a caution and yellow card if it happens again,
