Gil Acedo of Pasadena, CA USA asks...

This question is a follow up to question 14034

Question #14034

Per the CLOTG (Coaches' Laws of the Game), which is the LOTG as interpreted by coaches, a half or a game can not end on a corner kick. This myth is so ingrained in coaches' minds that I have seen coaches go ballistic when a referee blows the whistle before their team can manage to take the corner kick in the waning minutes of the half or game with the coaches' battle cry, "YOU CAN"T END THE GAME (or half) ON A CORNER KICK!"

I have seen veteran referees allow time for the kick to be taken except one instance where the kicking team was wasting so much time and was ignoring the referee's repeated requests to speed things along so, he blew the whistle to end the half before the kick could be taken.

So of course the leather-lunged coach of the kicking team bellowed, HEY REF, Y C E T G (or half) O A CK!"

Some other quotes from the CLOTG: "you can't play the ball from the ground", "ya gotta call handball ref, he gained an advantage", "bad throw, he put spin on it" and "yellow card ref, he fouled from behind."

Thanks for your time ladies & gentlemen, your comments truly have made me a better referee. How can I put a little something in your stockings this holiday season?

Gil Acedo

Hey Gil, why don't you write a CLOTG? You could market it and sell one to every referee!!!Probely fill 100 pages.
