Question Number: 13431

Law 8 - Start and Restart of Play 8/1/2006

RE: Grade 7 Adult

Michael D of sterling heights, mi usa asks...

What does the law say regarding inanimate objects. That is, what is the proper call and restart after the ball hits a bird, or a water bottle which the keeper has too close to the net, or even a sub/fan who touches the ball while it is still in the field of play

Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

Michael this is the proverbial outside agent kind of thing. Dropped ball subject to the special circumstances of Law 8. I, for one am surprised you made it to grade 07 without that little bit of knowledge firmly lodged in your bag.

Regards,
