Answer provided by Referee Chuck Fleischer

As would have it the referee caused a loss for your side. He also caused all your shots on goals to miss. You can have a rematch next time it is in the cards... NOT UNTIL

Answer provided by Referee Ben Mueller

The referee acts upon what he sees. Referees do not lose games for teams. Did the referee put the ball in the goal? Did he cause all your shots to miss? No!

Answer provided by Referee Richard Dawson

Hi Damian,
it always hurts to lose a close match and when a referee decides to award a free kick for a penal offence if that penal offence occurs inside the penalty area of the defending team it MUST in law be a PK. A referee with integrity sees what he sees even if you or I see it different. No team at the world cup has not had a call that its supporters did not like or agree with. In many cases a referee or AR could be in error but those are the breaks in a game and they generally work out equally in the long run. Often percieved injustice is only a view from the heart! A spectator sees what he thinks , a player sees what he feels, a coach sees what he wants and a referee sees what he sees. Be proud of your team they fought hard and deserve your support! Cheers
