Question Number: 33989

League Specific 9/14/2020

RE: Professional

Hussain Jan Gramkani of Muscat, Muscat Oman asks...

player is shown Yellow card once in match and second time ib KFPM. Can he play the next match or a suspention

Answer provided by Referee Joe McHugh

Hi Hussain
That is a matter for the competition rules to decide not the Laws of the Game.
Many competition rules set out the number of yellow cards that warrant a suspension. Many have 5/6 cards before a suspension applies.
If the competition organisers state that two yellows merit a suspension then so be it.

Answer provided by Referee Peter Grove

Hi Hussain,
Disciplinary sanctions are not something that the Laws of the Game deal with - that's left to the competition organisers. Given that the Laws do not require a red card in these circumstances and many competitions require more than two yellow cards before a suspension kicks in, I'd say it's possibly not an automatic suspension but if the competition did have a rule that two yellows lead to a suspension, then it could be the case.
