Why ref Joe say 'opposite of foul spot',contrary to other refs?

Ref McHugh's wording is simply another way of stating the the same thing we were all trying to say. If you are sitting directly across the table from someone, that person is 'opposite' you.

Ref McHugh's statement is the same as the other referees. Being opposite makes it perpendicular to the spot of the foul on the six yard line

Hi Charles
My apologies if the colloquial wording confused the matter. This is a matter of fact with answers that cannot be different.
For the record the correct phrase is 'an indirect free kick awarded inside the goal area must be taken on the goal area line parallel to the goal line at the point nearest to where the infringement occurred.'
