Answer provided by Referee Gary Voshol Ref McHugh's wording is simply another way of stating the the same thing we were all trying to say. If you are sitting directly across the table from someone, that person is 'opposite' you.

This is a matter of fact with answers that cannot be different. For the record the correct phrase is 'an indirect free kick awarded inside the goal area must be taken on the goal area line parallel to the goal line at the point nearest to where the infringement occurred.'
